Uganda Gorilla Safari & Kibale Chimps

Uganda Gorilla Safari  begins with chimp tracking in Kibale Forest National Park. You will then get to go on a game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park, as well as a boat cruise through the Kazinga Channel, where you will see a variety of wildlife and bird species. Next, you will head to Bwindi Forest National Park, which is famous for its gorilla trekking. Finally, you will visit L. Mburo before returning to Kampala/Entebbe.

Day 1: Uganda Gorilla Safari arrival and Airport Pickup

Our driver guide will be right there when you exit customs, with a warm smile and a sign bearing your name. You’re most welcome to Uganda. Now, your tour guide will assist you in navigating any airport-related issues and then transfer you to your hotel. Today is a day to rest and relax as you recover from jet lag. Depending on your arrival time, your tour guide will discuss available options for activities if you’re the “hit the ground running” type. Cycling, birding, botanical gardens, and hiking are some of the activities available in Entebbe.

Day 2: Transfer to Primates Capital, Kibale N.P

After breakfast, head west by road to Kibale National Park. Travel time: 4-5 hours. Enjoy nature at its best while at Primate Lodge, right in the heart of the forest. Over 1,400 chimps live in Kibale forest, as do over 20 rare primate species in the nearby Bigodi wetland sanctuary.  You can enjoy birding in this area as well.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest and Queen Elizabeth N.P

Today you will start the day with one of man’s closest relatives, the chimpanzee, with whom we share 97.3% of our DNA. The main activities on this day of the Uganda Gorilla Safari include an early morning briefing after breakfast, followed by a guided hike through the forest following tracks and sounds until you find the chimps. Tracking the chimps may take 1-2 hours while observing how they feed, build nests, and drum on the roots of large mahogany trees.

You will be treated to breathtaking views shortly after returning to your lodge for lunch or packed lunch, including glimpses of the majestic Rwenzori mountain ranges and other picturesque scenery.

Later in the evening, prepare for an exciting game drive. During this safari adventure, you will have the opportunity to spot numerous animals that inhabit the park’s diverse landscapes. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, buffaloes, and a myriad of other fascinating wildlife species. The game drive promises to be an unforgettable experience as you quickly immerse yourself in the beauty of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After a rewarding day of wildlife encounters, head to your lodge for a delectable dinner, followed by a restful overnight stay.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive and Kazinga Boat Cruise

Wake up to the sounds of roaring from the abundant wildlife surrounding your Lodge. After breakfast, your driver will take you on a game drive to see buffalos and lions in the Kasenyi plains.

Return to your lodge for lunch, and then take a unique boat cruise through Queen Elizabeth Park along the Kazinga channel, where you can get up close and personal with hippos, crocodiles, and other aquatic animals, as well as a variety of birds on the bay!

After the cruise, you’ll head back to the lodge

Day 5: Depart Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable

Drive through Queen Elizabeth’s Ishasha sector to the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in southwestern Uganda. It is one of the most biologically diverse areas in Africa and is renowned for its population of endangered mountain gorillas. The park is characterized by thick, impenetrable forests, rugged terrain, and breathtaking landscapes. Upon arrival, check into your comfortable lodge and relax before embarking on the thrilling Gorilla trekking adventure that awaits.

Day 6: Uganda Gorilla Safari  Trek in Bwindi

After preparing and receiving a briefing from experienced guides, embark on an awe-inspiring trekking expedition deep into the heart of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The trek through the dense rainforest is an adventure in itself, as you navigate rugged terrain and lush vegetation in search of the mountain gorillas.

When you encounter the Gorilla group, you will have a magical hour to observe these majestic creatures up close, witnessing their captivating behaviors and familial interactions. It’s an incredibly humbling and unforgettable experience to share a moment with these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

After the trek, you have the option to engage in additional activities exploring the local community, where you can interact with the Batwa pygmies and learn about their traditional way of life..

Day 7: Depart Bwindi for Lake Mburo National Park

After a satisfying breakfast, your Njia driver will lead you off to Lake Mburo National Park, which is Uganda’s smallest park and conveniently close to the capital city, Kampala. Despite its small size, the park is abundant in wildlife, making it a worthwhile destination for nature enthusiasts looking to see a large number of Zebras.

As we enter Lake Mburo National Park, be prepared to encounter a variety of animals, including a large number of zebras, impalas, oribis, buffaloes, warthogs, and waterbucks. Additionally, the park is a haven for birdwatchers, as it boasts an impressive diversity of over 332 bird species.

The drive from Bwindi Impenetrable to Lake Mburo will take approximately 4 to 5 hours, offering you plenty of opportunities to admire the stunning scenery, pass by farms, and observe plantations along the way. We will make a stop for lunch en-route to recharge and continue our journey.

Upon arriving at Lake Mburo, if you still have energy and enthusiasm, you can embark on an afternoon boat cruise along the tranquil waters of the lake. This cruise promises exceptional photo opportunities, allowing you to capture the beauty of the park and its inhabitants.

Day 8: Transfer from Lake Mburo National Park to Entebbe

Depending on your flight time, we will have a morning game drive to see giraffes, birds, and other wildlife as we depart from Lake Mburo.

As your safari adventure ends, it’s time to drive back to Entebbe, where your journey began. The scenic drive will allow you to reflect on the incredible wildlife encounters and unforgettable experiences you have had during your time in Uganda.

If there is some time before your departure flight, you can choose to visit the Entebbe Botanical Garden, a tranquil oasis filled with a diverse collection of plants and bird species.

What should you bring on your Uganda safari?

Uganda is generally hot and sunny during the day, so sunscreen and a hat are recommended, but it can get chilly at night, so a light jacket/jumper is also recommended. Waterproof jacket Long pants and a long-sleeved shirt  and Shoes with a strong closed  sturdy
